Linton man arrested after starting fight with another man
/When LPD officers responded to a fight between two men, several witnesses confirmed the altercation was initiated by a Linton man who was arrested and charged with battery resulting in bodily injury.
Jejuan Antwon Love, 36, Linton, was arrested by Lieutenant Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department on Wednesday night, August 31.
LPD dispatch got a call about several people involved in a fight at a location on I St NE in Linton. Lieutenant Pierce, the investigating officer, responded along with LPD Officers Cayden Walker and Janzen Franklin.
When they arrived, they learned the fight was between Love and another man. They talked to three witnesses on the scene who said Love was the aggressor in the altercation. One witness allegedly said Love was coming down off drugs and had been in a verbal argument with his girlfriend and was arguing with other people around him as well. Witnesses said Love punched the other man in the face and then the other man defended himself and fought back. Several punches were thrown.
When the officers talked to the other man involved in this, he said Love had been threatening people all day. Lt. Pierce reported the man sustained swelling to one side of his face and head and he had scratches to his arm and was transported by Greene County Rescue to Greene County General Hospital for evaluation.
Love sustained scratches to his face and elbow and complained of soreness in his jaw. He was checked out by Greene County Ambulance Service personnel but refused further treatment.
Love was arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 11:40 PM with bond set at $1000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He posted bond, was released and ordered to appear at his initial hearing this afternoon in Greene Superior Court.
Love has been charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
