Jasonville man accused of child molesting in one case, sending pornographic picture in another
A warrant was issued yesterday (Thursday) for the arrest of a Jasonville man accused of child molesting, a Level 3 felony. A second warrant for his arrest was issued earlier today (Friday) on a charge of disseminating matter harmful to minors, a Level 6 felony.
Jacob Riley Roger James Turney, also known as JR Turney, 19, Jasonville, has been under investigation by Investigator Julie Criger of the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office since May when a family case manager from the Greene County Department of Child Services (DCS) requested her assistance in a case of child molesting.
DCS had received a report that Turney had touched a juvenile victim inappropriately and a forensic interview with the victim was scheduled to take place at Susie’s Place.
Criger’s report shows the victim, who was 12 years old at the time of the incident, was able to describe what happened in detail. During the course of the investigation, family members and others were also interviewed along with Turney.
According to Criger’s report, Turney denied the accusations at first, then admitted his actions.
The alleged incident took place at a residence in Jasonville where the victim was visiting a friend and Turney was also there. He’s accused of telling the victim to remove clothing then proceeding to touch and violate the victim while masturbating.
The first criminal case was filed against Turney yesterday, Thursday, September 9, in Greene Circuit Court, and the warrant was issued the same day.
In this case he’s facing one count of child molesting, a Level 3 felony.
Then today, Friday, September 10, another criminal case was filed against Turney in Greene Superior Court.
In this case, Turney is facing a charge of dissemination of matter harmful to minors, a Level 6 felony. This one was investigated by Officer Andrew Duguay of the Jasonville Police Department.
Officer Duguay was dispatched last May to a residence in Jasonville after JPD got a report that a juvenile had received pornographic material from a 19-year-old.
When Officer Duguay arrived, the caller explained her 12-year-old child had received a picture of a penis through the child’s Snapchat app and the child had taken a screenshot of the picture. The child said it came from someone with the Snapchat handle of Jacobreily and the child described him as a tall, skinny person with blonde hair and a speech impediment who rode a mountain bike around town and lived near the junkyard.
Officer Duguay said he knew Investigator Julie Criger had interviewed someone at the Jasonville Police Department who matched the description and he was able to identify the suspect as Turney.
According to Officer Duguay, when he interviewed Turney, Turney admitted sending lewd photos via Snapchat but would not say who he sent them to.
The second warrant for Turney’s arrest was issued earlier today (Friday).
