Darryl Allen Hinkle, 37, of Indianapolis, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department very early on Thursday, March 5.

A little before 1 a.m. yesterday, Officer King stopped a blue 1998 Ford Explorer on State Road 54 in front of Walmart for having blue lights on a private vehicle.

Hinkle was the driver who told the officer he believed his license was suspended. That turned out to be true.

Officer King had requested LPD Officer Joe Riley to respond to assist during the stop and when he arrived with his K9 partner Kona, Kona performed a sniff around Hinkle’s vehicle and alerted at the driver’s side door.

Officer King reported that during a search of the vehicle, they found a smoking device with residue and a small clear bag with a white crystal substance. Officer Riley reported both items field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

In addition, inside a Mountain Dew bottle, they located a small zip-lock bag that field-tested positive for the presence of cocaine.

Hinkle was transported to the Greene County Jail without incident. He was booked in around 2:11 a.m. and held without bond pending an appearance in court.

Hinkle is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
