Homicide investigation underway after body found in early morning residential fire
/The Linton Police Department (LPD) is assisting the Indiana State Police (ISP) in a homicide investigation after a body was found following a residential fire in the early morning hours of June 8.
According to a press release from the LPD, Linton police and fire personnel responded to a D Street Southeast house fire around 12:20 a.m. Emergency crews discovered the body of a deceased male inside the residence.
“The Linton Fire Department quickly suppressed the fire, and the Linton Police Department established the scene as a crime scene,” the release stated.
Linton police contacted the ISP to assist in the homicide investigation. LPD Officer Cade Herndon and Detective Logan Hobbs acted on initial information, locating and apprehending a potential suspect at a local gas station.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The investigation is ongoing, and the LPD continues to assist the ISP.
