Greene County under burn ban
/According to a press release from the Greene County Commissioners, Greene County is under a burn ban.
Greene County Board of Commissioners President Nathan Abrams issued the ban on Nov. 13. According to the ban, opening burning, including burning trash or brush, should immediately be discontinued. Violations of the order may bring legal penalties.
“As dry as it is, the situation is dangerous, and we must do something to protect the citizens of the county,” Abrams said. “We may have to extend the ban if current conditions continue.”
Greene County is one of 16 Indiana counties under a burn ban as of Nov. 13. According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security’s website, surrounding counties, including Clay, Sullivan, Monroe, Daviess, Lawrence, and Martin are also under a burn ban.
