Greene County Humane Society Joins BISSELL Pet Foundation to offer reduced adoption fees during Summer Empty the Shelters event
/BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is once again prompting a nationwide call for adoption through its Empty the Shelters event, running now through July 19.
Greene County Humane Society will participate alongside 300+ shelters across 40 states to help pets find loving homes through reduced adoption fees of $70 or less, generously sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation.
Greene County Humane Society will participate now through July 19, at Greene County Humane Society 1026 N 1375 W, Linton, IN 47441, offering $20 adoption fees for cats and kittens, and $70 for dogs and puppies. Visit www.greenecountyhumanesociety.org to view adoptable pets and learn more.
“Shelters across the country are once again at a breaking point. They are facing record intakes and limited space. Too often, loving, healthy pets are at risk, but our communities hold the key to their future,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Our Summer National Empty the Shelters is more than an adoption event—it’s a movement to support local shelters and save lives together. It's an opportunity to change a pet’s life, and your own. Together, we can give every pet the future they deserve.”
The Greene County Humane Society has participated in several of these events in the past and it is always a great way to help get pets into forever homes. The Greene County Humane Society is open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday to Saturday and until 7 p.m. on Fridays. All adoptions require an approved application so applying in advance is recommended.
Greene County Humane Society President Kegan Inman says "This event could not possibly come at a more needed time. We have been running over capacity for the past several months and desperately need adoptions. We are hoping this event can raise some attention for our animals and hopefully encourage more families to explore adoption. Our longer resident, a dog named Beast, has been in the shelter for over 13 months. He is an amazing dog who came to us as a feral puppy. He has really opened up but still can be a shy boy and is just patiently waiting for the right adopter to come along who understands his needs and is willing to give him the patience and continued work that he requires!"
Since its inception in 2016, Empty the Shelters has helped more than 324,000 pets find loving homes and is now the largest funded adoption event in the country. The program partners with more than 815 animal welfare organizations across 49 states and Canada.
BISSELL Pet Foundation and Greene County Humane Society urge families to research the pet they are interested in adopting, as well as adoption requirements.
