GCEMA announces opening of warming shelters due to forecasted cold weather

Greene County Emergency Management is advising residents that warming shelters will be available this weekend due to dangerously cold temperatures in the forecast.

To help ensure the safety of community members, the following warming shelter locations will be open:

• Bloomfield Park – North Shelter House
Open as needed
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday

• Linton City Park – East Shelter House
7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday

Residents who are vulnerable to cold weather, including those without adequate heating, are encouraged to utilize these facilities. Please dress warmly when traveling and check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those with limited mobility.

Greene County Emergency Management will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as needed.
