Fix ‘n’ Friends Clinic to open June 9
/Affordable veterinary care is getting a much-needed boost in Greene County and surrounding areas.
The Greene County Humane Society has announced the grand opening of Fix ‘n’ Friends, a new low-cost spay and neuter clinic located inside the animal shelter in Linton. The clinic will officially open to the public on June 9.
The clinic was created in response to PetsAlive discontinuing operations at their Greene County location which limited pet owners options for low-cost spay/neuter and preventative services.
“We saw a sharp increase in calls from people who couldn’t find affordable options for spaying or neutering their pets,” said Kegan Inman, President of the Greene County Humane Society. “Fix ‘n’ Friends is our answer to that need — affordable, local, and compassionate care for the animals and families who need it most.”
Heading up the clinic is Dr. Theresa Navarro, a highly experienced veterinarian specializing in shelter medicine and spay/neuter procedures. A 2002 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Navarro has worked in animal shelters and high-volume clinics across Minnesota and Nevada. After relocating to Indiana, she continued to focus on accessible care and now resides in Greene County with her family..
“This is more than just a clinic — it’s a community resource,” said Dr. Navarro. “We want to keep pets healthy and help families access affordable care. It's rewarding to be part of something so essential, right in my own backyard.”

“By including a free microchip with every spay or neuter surgery, we’re removing one more barrier to responsible pet ownership,” said Rick West, Shelter Manager. “We see so many pets come in with microchips that were never registered because the owner couldn’t afford the extra fee — and that chip ends up being useless when it matters most. Our chips include free lifetime registration, so if a pet goes missing, they have the best possible chance of being reunited with their family quickly. It’s peace of mind that really makes a difference.”
Walk-In Vaccine Clinic – Every Thursday, 1:00–4:00 PM
Fix ‘n’ Friends also offers a walk-in vaccine clinic every Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, no appointment required. The clinic provides core vaccinations, testing, and microchipping for both cats and dogs.
All pets are eligible for a rabies vaccine for just $15 and microchipping with lifetime registration for $10.

Additionally, Leptospirosis (lepto), Lyme Disease, and Influenza vaccines will be available.
“We’ve seen firsthand how many pet owners just don’t have easy access to affordable vaccinations,” said West,“The wellness clinic helps close that gap. It’s not just about convenience — it’s about protecting pets from preventable illnesses and keeping our community healthier as a whole.”
Support for Puppies & Kittens
Fix ‘n’ Friends also offers Early Care Bundles tailored for puppies and kittens to help families get their pets off to a healthy start:

“The Early Care Bundles are a game changer for families with puppies and kittens,” said Amanda Abney, Shelter Manager. “Young pets are especially vulnerable to diseases like Parvo, which can be deadly and expensive to treat. These affordable bundles help pet owners get ahead of those risks and give their animals a healthy start in life.”
