Eastern Greene County man accused of intimidation with a deadly weapon
/An eastern Greene County man is accused of intimidation with a deadly weapon for allegedly pointing a firearm at a woman while telling her to get out of the house.
Uldis A. Vitols, 50, Springville, was arrested by Deputy Davis Aerne of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department early last Friday, November 27.
Deputy Aerne was dispatched at 1:55 a.m. last Friday to a residence on East Robins Nest Drive in the Blue Sky area of eastern Greene County after a woman called 911 and said Vitols had pointed a shotgun at her but he then left their residence.
When Deputy Aerne arrived, along with Deputy Alan Jackson, the woman said Vitols had messaged her at work telling her to come home, then messaged her telling her to leave.
When she was at the home, Vitols told her to get out and she told him he’d have to evict her. Vitols later told deputies the two had been in a relationship for about 20 years.
Vitols allegedly then grabbed the shotgun, pointed it at her and told her, “This is your eviction notice.” She called 911 and Vitols then left the house.
Deputies were unable to locate Vitols at a neighbor’s house but he then came walking back up to the house and was detained. Vitols allegedly said he had been drinking and had passed out in the grass between the house and his buddy’s house, then woke up to see cops at his house.
Vitols allegedly denied that he keeps a shotgun at his house and also said he had never owned a shotgun in his life. He also said there had been no issues between him and the woman that night.
But while Deputy Aerne was talking to Vitols, Deputy Jackson went looking for a shotgun in the area where Vitols had been and he located a pump shotgun in a ditch. It was a 20-gauge Remington with no shotgun shells found in or around the shotgun.
Vitols was arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail. His bond was set at $14,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $1,400 and was released later the same day.
Vitols is scheduled to appear at an initial hearing in Greene Circuit Court early tomorrow morning.
He’s facing charges of:
Intimidation using a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, and
Pointing a firearm at another person – firearm unloaded, a Class A misdemeanor.
