A 19-year-old Dugger woman is accused of hitting another woman and holding her on the ground.

Gracie Mae Ellis, 19, Dugger, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department on Saturday night, February 8.

Around 8 p.m., Officer King was dispatched to a residence on 4th Street NW in Linton where a 17-year-old female told him she was at her boyfriend’s house to clean and let the dogs out while he was in the hospital. She said Ellis knocked on the door and asked to get a phone charger she had left there, then forced her way in and started hitting her in the face and the back of her head. She said Ellis then got her on the ground, was sitting on her chest then left.

Officer King reported the woman had bruising to her forehead and nose and a small laceration on her nose.

When Ellis met Officer King at the police department for an interview, she explained she recently moved out of the residence and when she was driving by and saw the light on, she stopped to get her phone charger. She alleged that the woman opened the door, invited her in, then started yelling at her and pushed her. She allegedly said that is when she punched the woman in the back of the head. She said she was not sure if she hit the woman in the face but allegedly did say she held the woman on the ground.

Ellis was transported to the sheriff’s department and booked into the Greene County Jail around 11 p.m. Her bond was set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $100 and was released.

Ellis is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Thursday, February 20, for an initial hearing on a preliminary charge of battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
