Driver found with methamphetamine during Tuesday night traffic stop

A driver stopped for a license plate light violation is accused of meth possession after a K9 alerted to the presence of controlled substances during a sniff around her car late Tuesday.

April Lois Marie Missel, 41, from Clinton, Ind., was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department. She was booked into the Greene County Jail at 12:19 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, following a traffic stop in Linton late Tuesday night, September 29.

Officer King stopped a gray 2002 Buick passenger car at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday for not having a license plate light at the intersection of A Street NE and 1st Street NE. LPD Officer Joe Riley and his K9 partner Kona responded to assist on the scene.

April Missel was the driver who allegedly admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle and Officer Riley said K9 Kona alerted to the presence of a controlled substance during a free air sniff around the vehicle.

Officer King reported that during a search of the vehicle, Officer Riley found a grinder with a green plant substance inside in the driver’s door panel, two syringes in a white lunch box in the back seat, one syringe hidden underneath the center console where an ashtray should be, a container with a green plant substance underneath the center console where the gear shifter is, and a glass smoking device with a white residue inside a zipped pouch inside a bag in the back seat. The white residue field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

Missel allegedly admitted to smoking methamphetamine and using a syringe and was transported to jail where she was being held without bond pending court appearance.

Missel is facing charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,

  • Unlawful possession of syringe a Level 6 felony,

  • Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
