A Coalmont woman appeared in Greene Superior Court on Aug. 26 after her arrest at Shakamak State Park, where authorities allege they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a Schedule II controlled substance during a traffic stop.

Teresa Diane Monier, 44, was arrested Aug. 21 and is charged with Level 6 felony possession of a controlled substance with an enhancing circumstance, Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana and Class C misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Indiana Conservation Officer Cole Hollingsworth was patrolling Shakamak State Park on Aug. 21 when he observed a man and woman near the shoreline of Lake Kickapoo beside a parked Volkswagen Beetle.

As Hollingsworth drove past the vehicle, he reported detecting the odor of burnt marijuana. A short time later, the Volkswagen left the area, and the officer continued to smell burnt marijuana while following it on Park Road before initiating a traffic stop.

Court documents state Hollingsworth identified Monier as the front-seat passenger. When asked about marijuana inside the vehicle, Monier initially denied having any before later producing a white smoking device containing what appeared to be a partially smoked hand-rolled marijuana cigarette from her purse.

During a search of the Volkswagen, officers reportedly found four partially smoked hand-rolled marijuana cigarettes in the center console and a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana in the glove box.

Investigators also searched Monier's purse, where they allegedly discovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and an unlabeled pill bottle containing several pills. One orange pill was identified through an online pill identification database as amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, according to the affidavit.

Authorities allege the controlled substance was possessed inside a public park, resulting in the Level 6 felony enhancement.

Monier was transported to the Greene County Jail. She appeared in Greene Superior Court on Aug. 26 for her initial hearing.
