The Greene County Local Outreach for Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team will host a candlelight vigil Thursday, Sept. 10, in recognition of World Suicide Awareness Day.

The vigil will begin at 8 p.m. at Humphreys Park in Linton and is open to the community.

The gathering will provide an opportunity to honor and remember those who have died by suicide, support survivors of suicide loss and bring awareness and hope to the community.

During the ceremony, the names of loved ones lost to suicide will be read aloud in remembrance. Organizers are reminding community members that only a few days remain to submit a loved one's name to be included in the ceremony.

Those wishing to have a name read may complete a submission form provided by the Greene County LOSS Team.

Organizers said the event is intended to bring the community together in support of those grieving a loss as well as those who may be struggling.

The LOSS Team's message for the event centers on four words: Hope. Awareness. Compassion. Community.
