A Bloomfield woman was arrested Wednesday on a warrant stemming from an incident at the American Legion in Worthington, where authorities received a report that a woman had driven into the parking lot and could barely walk.

Anna Mitchell, 76, was arrested Sept. 23 on a warrant issued Sept. 22.

Mitchell faces four charges:

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction within seven years, a Level 6 felony
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor

According to a probable cause affidavit, Greene County Dispatch sent Worthington police, firefighters and emergency medical personnel to American Legion Post 106 at 109 Commercial St. on Sept. 17.

Worthington Town Marshal Jeremy Brinkman reported finding Mitchell seated inside the bar with her head leaning back. Mitchell allegedly said she had traveled from Bloomfield to CVS and then to the American Legion.

When asked whether she had consumed alcohol, Mitchell initially said she had not consumed much but later reported drinking three shots of Fireball around noon, according to the affidavit.

Deputy Marshal Chandler Willard administered a horizontal gaze nystagmus test, during which Mitchell allegedly displayed six of six possible indicators of impairment. Other field sobriety tests were not performed because of her condition and the possibility of medical issues.

A preliminary breath test reportedly showed an alcohol concentration of .090%. Indiana’s legal limit is .08%.

Emergency medical personnel treated Mitchell for a medical issue before transporting her to Greene County General Hospital. Police said Mitchell agreed to a chemical test at the hospital, but the affidavit did not include the results.

Court records cited in the affidavit indicate Mitchell was previously convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in May 2025.
