Heather Marie Jarrell, 27, Bloomfield, was arrested by Bloomfield Town Marshal Ken Tharp on Thursday morning, November 21.

Marshal Tharp responded to the CVS Pharmacy in Bloomfield around 10:15 a.m. after an employee said they had witnessed a theft. Store employees were able to identify the suspect as Jarrell.

When Tharp arrived, Jarrell had already left the store, but the store provided video of the incident. Tharp reported video surveillance showed Jarrell walking down the aisles in the store as she waited for a prescription to be filled. She allegedly picked up several “adult personal care products” then went into the store’s restroom. When she emerged, there were bulges in her purse that weren’t there before.

Marshal Tharp left the store and went to Jarrell’s residence just west of Bloomfield, advised her of her Miranda rights then asked about the items. He said at first she said she didn’t steal anything and had put the items back on the shelf. He said he advised her not to lie to him and she then admitted she had the items in her purse.

Tharp reported Jarrell retrieved the items and handed them to him. She was then placed under arrest and transported to jail where her bond was set at $1,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $100 and was released later the same day.

Marshal Tharp returned the items to the store where the total value was determined to be $40.48. The items were then photographed and destroyed.

Jarrell is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court next Monday afternoon. She is being charged with theft, a Cass A misdemeanor.
