Bloomfield man arrested after traffic stop

A Bloomfield man accused of driving with an alcohol concentration of .274 was arrested and charged with a Class A misdemeanor.

Austin Tyler Stroud, 36, Bloomfield, was arrested by Officer Adam King of the Linton Police Department on Wednesday, November 20. Stroud was booked in to the Greene County Jail around 1:31 a.m. on the 20th following a traffic stop initiated by Officer King on Tuesday, the 19th around 11:35 p.m.

Stroud was driving a red 2019 Hyundai Elantra when he was pulled over for improper tail lights.

During the stop, Stroud allegedly exhibited several signs of intoxication including unsteady balance and staggering from his vehicle.

Officer King reported Stroud failed field sobriety testing.

Stroud was transported to the police department where he agreed to take a certified chemical test administered by LPD Officer Joe Riley.

Riley reported the test result showed Stroud had an alcohol concentration equivalent to .274. The legal limit is .08.

Stroud’s bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He posted $400, was released and scheduled to appear in court on November 25.

Stroud retained a private attorney and the defense then filed a motion to waive the initial hearing.

Stroud has been charged with operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a Class A misdemeanor.
