A Bloomfield man arrested Thursday on an outstanding domestic battery warrant now faces additional drug charges after police searched a residence on North Cold Springs Road.

Justin Cole Crosby, 43, was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Sept. 17. According to a probable cause affidavit filed Friday, officers went to the residence earlier that evening to serve an arrest warrant but received no answer despite indications someone might be inside.

Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Jordan Brant obtained a search warrant. After repeated announcements, officers forced open the front doors and found Crosby hiding in a bathroom at approximately 8:32 p.m., the affidavit states. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Crosby reported a back injury and was taken to Greene County General Hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Greene County Jail.

During the search, officers reported finding syringes, suspected controlled substances, marijuana products and drug paraphernalia. Residue from two plastic bags, a digital scale and liquid from a syringe yielded presumptive positive field-test results for methamphetamine, according to the affidavit. Leafy residue from another bag yielded a presumptive positive result for marijuana.

The charges listed in the case filed Sept. 18 are possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe, both Level 6 felonies; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. No bond was allowed at the time of booking.

Bloomfield police were assisted by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
