When a Bloomfield man got into a domestic altercation with family members on Monday, he allegedly hit a juvenile. He was arrested and is facing a felony battery charge.

Nathon Job Scott, 26, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Michael Stanley of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Monday, December 7.

When Deputy Stanley, the investigating officer, and Deputy Jordan Allor were responding to a domestic incident on East Indiana Avenue in Bloomfield around 4:43 p.m. Monday, dispatch advised that a caller had reported Nathon Scott was tearing up the residence and was out of control but Scott had left in a maroon 1998 Dodge Durango.

Three adult family members at the residence and one juvenile all explained how Scott had been upset and had instigated a physical altercation with two of the adults and a screaming match with the third adult. In addition, Scott allegedly hit the juvenile in the chest, then hit him in the face.

While the deputies were talking to the witnesses at the residence, Sgt. Marvin Holt and Officer Wayman JR Blazier, both of the Bloomfield Police Department, located Nathon at a convenience store in Bloomfield and transported him to the sheriff’s department.

During an interview, Scott allegedly said the altercation was started by another family member who said hateful things to him which turned into a verbal altercation. He said after that, things got a little “fuzzy” about what he could remember happening.

Scott was booked into the Greene County Jail at 6:43 p.m. with bond set at $14,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. As of Wednesday evening, he had not yet posted bond and was still in jail.

A criminal case has been filed against Scott and when he appears in court for his initial hearing, he will be formally charged with domestic battery on a person less than 14 years old, a Level 6 felony.
