William "Hal" Harp

William "Hal" Harp, age 82, of Worthington, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Greene County General Hospital. He was born December 8, 1942 in Georgetown, KY, the son of Charles & Dorothy (Biddle) Harp. He leaves behind a legacy of service, family and friendship.

He was a graduate from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky and even though life carried him many different places, he never lost his Kentucky accent, his words like "hi" and "nine" always gave him away. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran and then had a 37 year career at Crane as a GS-12 computer specialist. He retired in 1997 but continued his lifelong dedication to his community by serving 11 years on the Worthington Town Council, 8 years on the Greene County Council, was a member of the Worthington Park Board as well as a member of the Worthington American Legion Post #106.

On February 26, 1966, Hal married his beloved wife, Wilma, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Together they raised a loving family and built a home filled with memories to last for generations to come. He enjoyed building and flying large model airplanes, playing cards at the American Legion and playing golf on Fridays.

Hal is survived by his wife, Wilma Harp of Worthington; son, Will (Jackie) Harp of Worthington; daughters, Sabra (Brian) Stoner of Worthington and Kristy (Bill) Patton of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Amanda (Jerid) Hert, Brooklyn (Alex) Provo and Mason Stoner; great grandchildren, Kase Hert, Charlee Hert and Reid Provo; sister, Julie (Mike) Galbraith as well as several nieces, nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Henry Harp II and his grandson, Zachary Harp.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington.
