Wayne A. Hollingsworth, age 86, of Linton, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born in Linton, IN on February 12, 1936, the son of Mark & Glyde Alice (Thomas) Hollingsworth.

He was a 1954 graduate of Linton Stockton High School. He worked at General Electric for 38 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Linton and a proud lifetime supporter of Linton Miner Football and would find a way to either watch or listen to the games every Friday night. He enjoyed making people laugh and spending time with his beloved family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sarah (Lundy) Hollingsworth of Linton; sons, Jeff (Debbie) Hollingsworth of Linton, Brian (Kristy Lewellyn) Hollingsworth of Linton and Brett (Julie) Hollingsworth of Plainfield; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Beemer, Kaylee Hollingsworth, Jordan (Kaitlyn) Hollingsworth, Drew (Lexy) Hollingsworth and Brooke (Ryli VanScoy) Hollingsworth; great grandchildren, Jayce Beemer, Avery Beemer, Elliott Hollingsworth, Dylan Hollingsworth and Evelyn Hollingsworth; brother, Jim Hollingsworth as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Grace Corbin, Herschel Hollingsworth, Mary Hudson, Etta Walton and Betty Felker.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Thursday, September 22, 2022, with Pastor David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Linton First Baptist Church or to Linton Miner Football Program through the funeral home.
