Walter Roy Yoho passed away on June 19, 2022. He was born in Solsberry, IN on September 10, 1939 to Wayne and Gertie (Sherrow) Yoho.

He married Vikki Lynn (Zaayer) Yoho on November 9, 1973 and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Gerald and Mary Zaayer, siblings Glen Yoho, Bob Yoho, Pearl Rollins, Carol Sims, Joan Thacker and Jim Yoho; brothers-in-law Paul Rollins, Johnnie Sims and Jack Workman; sisters-in-law Kathleen Yoho and Frances Yoho; nephew Toby Yoho; great-niece Britnee Smith; great-niece Taryn Thacker; and great-nephew Jimmy Dean Yoho.

He is survived by his wife Vikki, son Brian (Melinda) Spice; daughter Jami Spice (Phillip Traicoff); grandchildren Sydney Spice (Troy Thompson), Victoria Hollinsworth, Savanna Spice and Sally Spice; sisters-in-law Joy Yoho and Sheila Workman; brothers-in-law Bill Thacker and Brad (Helen) Zaayer; and many special nieces and nephews.

Walt graduated from Solsberry High School in 1957 where he was a 1000-point scorer in basketball and a star baseball player. After high school, he continued playing independent basketball and softball where he was a state champion, two-time 45 and over national champion, a 45 and over All-American, and a charter member of The Bloomington Softball Hall of Fame. Athletics were an integral part of his life as he was a long-time little league and middle school basketball coach. Walt retired from ABB in 1999 and then worked at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church until 2018.

There was nothing more important to Walt than his large family, his lifelong hometown of Solsberry and his many pets throughout life. He was a die-hard Eastern Greene fan, especially during his children and grandchildren’s eras.

A celebration of life will take place at Eastern Greene Middle School Gymnasium on July 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Family and friends will be given the opportunity to share memories or stories about Walt.
