Vonnie Sue “Susie” Lewis

Vonnie Sue “Susie” Lewis went to be with the love of her life Frederick E. Lewis on July 10, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Robert Dean Murphy and was born on May 10, 1950 in Rodchester, Indiana.

Susie was a graduate of Logansport High School. She met the love of her life Frederick Eugene Lewis and they were married on June 22, 1974. She was a homemaker and an avid needleworker. She was a loving mother and the biggest cheerleader to her children, not just in sports, but in life as well. After raising her children, she spent her time watching her grandkids. Susie was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 196. At the Legion she had been over membership many times and president of the local chapter many times, as well as district president for District 7. Susie and her husband Fred were well known for their work with Legion Post #196 and their support of the Bloomfield NJROTC.

Susie will be remembered by her children Brandi Lewis (David Hudson), William Lewis, Thomas Lewis, Melissa Shake (Adam Shake), and Nancy Lewis, sister-in-law Veanna Lewis, grandchildren, Alexandria Kilzer (Ben Shirley), Nicole Kilzer (Mitchell Burch), Reilly Lewis, Rhys Lewis, Reyna Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Ian Lewis-Shake, Evan Shake, and Matthew LeClaire, and a great grandchild Benjamin Lewis.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Eugene Lewis, father Robert Dean Murphy, mother-in-law Hazel Ruth Lewis, and daughter Kristy Dawn Lewis.

Susie asked that in lieu of gifts and flowers, donations are to be made to the Bloomfield High School Redliners in her name.
