Velma Bailey Goshorn
/Velma Bailey Goshorn, age 95, formerly of Worthington, was born March 3, 1925 in Clay City, Indiana. She passed away January 11, 2021 in Camby, Indiana.
Mrs. Goshorn was a graduate of Clay City High School, class of 1943. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Central College in 1949 and her Masters degree from Indiana State. She married Glenn Goshorn on January 6, 1996. Mrs. Goshorn was a teacher at Maxwell, Indiana, Marco, Indiana, and Worthington Jefferson, Indiana. She taught for a total of 39 years. She was a member of Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church of Worthington, Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Honorary, Retired Teachers Association, and Delta Theta Tau.
Velma worked with Indiana State University in supervising nineteen college students during their student-teaching experience. She spent 18 years as the Worthington 4-H leader, often having 50-70 girls exhibiting their finished projects at the Greene County Fair. These were both very rewarding experiences for her in addition to the years of teaching Home Economics and elementary classes.
She is survived by two nephews, Eric and Vince Hochstetler, both of Indianapolis and three step grandsons Robert, Evan, and Michael Goshorn.
Mrs. Goshorn was preceded in death by her parents Floy and Estil Bailey, her spouse Glenn Goshorn, and her stepson Gregg Goshorn of Spencer.
She was buried at Worthington Cemetery on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
