Susan S. Benjamin, age 87, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 8:30 P.M. on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Hearthstone Health Campus in Bloomington.  She was born in Worthington, on November 1, 1931, the daughter of Donald Schloot & Abby (Dyer) Schloot-DeFrees.  

She was a 1949 graduate of Tudor Hall in Indianapolis.  She attended Indiana University for two years, married Ed Benjamin in 1951, and graduated from Butler University in 1953.  She was a homemaker, but most importantly cared for her family. 

She was a member of Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church and Tri Kappa, both in Worthington, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority at Indiana University.

She loved watching IU basketball, going to the beach, watching her grandchildren, the cabin, and enjoyed singing and listening to music.

She is survived by her three children, Jill (Jerrill) Vandeventer of Jasper, Jim (Mary Conway) Benjamin of Columbus, and Dr. Scott (Kelly Cisewski) Benjamin of Columbus, nine grandchildren, Tyler (Tiffany) Vandeventer, Tory (Jordan) Pearman, Tara (Tim) Vickers, Chris, Nate, Noah, Kane, Kota & Keagan Benjamin, and five great-grandchildren, Rhett, Gram, Marina, Hank, and Porter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. E.M. "Ed" Benjamin, D.D.S, and two brothers, Jimmy Schloot, a Marine Corp veteran, who was killed in World War II, and Jan Schloot.  

Funeral service will be held at Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church in Worthington at 12:00 noon Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, with Pastor Rick Pressel officiating. 
 
Visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 A. M. until time of service. 

Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Folsom United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
