Ronald G. "Ronnie" Bland
Ronald G. ‘Ronnie’ Bland, 86, of Bloomfield, Indiana passed away with his loved ones at his side, on September 26, 2019 at his residence. He was born on October 11, 1932 in Greene County, Indiana to William and Lorena (Hudson) Bland.
Ronnie was married to his loving wife, Carolyn (Wools) Bland on January 19, 1954.
Ronnie served in the US Navy on the USS New Jersey and served in the Korean War. He attended the Cleveland based, Bloomfield Church of God and was employed by Crane Naval Base in Ordinance and was a machinist. Ronnie enjoyed writing non-fiction short story books. He loved playing his guitar, singing and fishing.
Family left to cherish the memory of Ronnie: his wife, Carolyn Bland; two sons, Mark (Cindy) Bland of Long Beach, MS and Matthew (Cathy) Bland of Switz City; one daughter, Marcy Stahl of Bloomfield; one sister, Peggy White of Bloomfield, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Bland, four sisters, son-in-law, Scott Stahl and brother, Robert Reed.
A funeral service honoring Ronnie’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Meng Family Funeral Homes, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Bill Oricks and Carl Jackson officiating. Ronnie will be laid to rest in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield following military graveside rites.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 30 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
