Rodney William Bailey

Rodney William Bailey, 83, of Bloomfield, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Garden Villa of Bloomington. Born February 9, 1939 in Bismarck, North Dakota, he was the son of Robert Bailey and Aldyth (Andahl) Bailey Doering.

Rodney retired from Otis Elevator. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt from February 12, 1957 to December 17, 1960. On September 3, 1961 he married Joyce Norman. Rodney was a member of the Sylvania Wesleyan Church.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Joyce Bailey; his children, Melodee Deckard (Rick) of Solsberry, Michelle Walters (Dannie) of Springville and William Bailey of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Ty Deckard, Kelley Deckard, Kyla Chambers (Devin), Nathan Miller (Heather), Tanner Bailey (Megan), Chelsey Groomer (Jarred); great grandchildren, Daniel Chambers, Byron Chambers, Raelynn Miller and Rylee Miller; Several cousins living on Ranches in Bismarck, North Dakota that he liked to spend vacations visiting.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lacey Deckard and his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Sylvania Wesleyan Church with Rev. Bob England officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvania Cemetery.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at Sylvania Wesleyan Church.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Sylvania Wesleyan Church.
