Robert Paul Elkins

Robert Paul Elkins, known to his family and friends as Bobby, age 64, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2023 after a long battle with lung cancer.

Bobby was born on August 19, 1959 in Frankfort, Indiana, the son of Robert A. Elkins, Jr. and Lou (Scott) Elkins.

He moved with his family to several cities before they settled in Fort Wayne in 1965. Bobby attended Carroll High School. When he was a young adult, he became the stage manager for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He then traveled throughout the United States for several years as a stage manager for the rock bands Madam X and Skid Row.

After leaving life as a stage manager, Bobby briefly worked for a motorcycle sales company in Indianapolis. He then started racing motorcycles for Reads Racing in North Webster, Indiana. After retiring from racing, he became a photographer and videographer for Reads Racing. He also took care of their website for many years.

Bobby is survived by his father, Robert Elkins; sister, Lou Ann (Mark) Wilbur; nieces, Courtney (McKay) Adams, Chelsey Wilbur and Caitlyn (Tyler) Battenfield. He is also survived by his best friend Keith Cromwell.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lou Elkins; and sisters, Karen Elkins and Cheryl Elkins.

Bobby loved his dogs - Buster, Sheena and Webster, that he had throughout his life.

The family would like to thank everyone at Parkview Hospital Hospice Unit who were so kind, caring and attentive to Bobby’s care during the three weeks he was there. We appreciate each one of you so much.

A viewing will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Indiana, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023. Burial will be held immediately afterwards at 12:30 pm in the Fairview Cemetery in Linton, Indiana.
