ROBERT J. “BOB” DUCHANE JR, 68, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 12:19 A.M. Sunday, October 15, 2023 in his home in Jasonville, IN.

He was born September 21, 1955 in Germany to Robert J. Duchane Sr. and Catherine A. (Bridges) Duchane.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Melissa “Missy” Duchane of Jasonville, IN who he married on June 11, 2010; children, Robert J. Duchane III of Plainfield, IN, Nicholas Duchane of Indianapolis, IN, Joannie Lehman (Jerry) of Terre Haute, IN, Lydia Townsend (Steven) of Crawfordsville, IN, Liz Franklin (Janzen) of Jasonville, IN, Isaac Chesterfield of Jasonville, IN; grandchildren, Kayla Basham, Branson Basham, Nathaniel Townsend, Joziah Franklin, Chezni Franklin; siblings, Terrie Altvater (Tim) of Terre Haute, IN, Lisa Parnell (Douglas) of Terre Haute, IN, Galinda Duchane of Terre Haute, IN; several nieces & nephews and great-nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Evert Duchane II. 

Robert graduated from Terre Haute South High School Class of 1973. He worked for and retired from the US Postal Service. Robert attended Friendly Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Linton Elks Lodge# 866. He loved to cook and bake with the grandkids. He was the camp cook for the Baptist Youth Camp for several years. He also enjoyed reading, especially SyFi.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from Noon to 3 P.M. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the Friendly Grove Baptist Church 10520 South Co. Rd. 550 West, Lewis, IN 47858. Services are immediately following at 3 P.M. with Pastor David Smith officiating.

Interment will be at Friendly Grove Cemetery in Lewis, IN.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Robert to Cox Funeral Home to help with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the church.
