Robert "Bobby" Felts
Robert ‘Bobby’ Felts, 100, of Odon, Indiana, went to be with Jesus, on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon. Bobby was born on June 30, 1920 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Not much is known about Bobby’s life prior to 1983 when he went to live in a Group Home. He enjoyed participating in the Four Rivers day program services. In 2004, he was ‘adopted’ by his caregiver, Terri Anderson and family of Bloomfield. In 2014, at the age of 94, he fell and broke his hip and was moved to Ketcham Memorial Center where he spent the best 6 years of his life.
Bobby was a happy man and never met a stranger. He loved unconditionally and was always asking everyone “You want a hug?” Bobby’s favorite things were listening to oldies music, mostly Elvis, with his headphones on, dancing to Rock and Roll up to the age of 94, McDonald’s coffee and hamburgers. He really liked watches and was known to ‘con’ actual strangers into giving their watches to him. Bobby loved Milky Way Bars, Hershey Bars, 3 Musketeers and Dairy Queen, because they treat you right. He was fascinated by big TV’s, radios, oldie shows like Lucy and Gunsmoke, Superheroes, Christmas, Santa and we don’t want to forget more watches and more coffee.
God blessed many people with the privilege to love and care for Bobby including employees and board members at DSI/FRRS and Ketcham, strangers, friends and also the families of the other residents in the facilities that Bobby lived in. Most of all, Terri and her family will never forget all that Bobby taught them and the depth of love he had for them, asking nothing in return from anyone...except maybe some of his favorite things.
There will be no public viewing or services. Please celebrate Bobby’s life remembering him in Heaven, most likely singing with Elvis and rockin’ it out.
In remembrance of Bobby, memorial contributions may be made to Ketcham Memorial Center, 601 E. Race St., Odon, IN 47562.
All arrangements were entrusted to Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon. Condolences and memories of Robert may be shared online at www.mengfuneralhome.com.
