Robert "Bob" E. Purcell, age 91, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Stonecroft Health Campus. He was born in Owen County, IN on June 26, 1928, the son of Jerome Purcell & Rebecca (Ooley) Purcell.

He married Norma McDaniel on March 25, 1949 and they enjoyed almost 71 years of marriage together.

He worked at Diamond Chain Co. in Indianapolis for 32 years where he served as a Foreman. After retirement he worked for Woods Wire in Worthington and Kellers in Linton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, camping, water skiing and traveling.

Robert belonged to the Traveling Turtles Camping Club in Bloomington and for years BMW Motorcycle Club in Linton. He was also a member of Concord General Baptist Church in Calvertville.

He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Purcell of Bloomfield, sons, Robert Willard (Lori) Purcell of Bloomfield, Jack Lynn (Rita) Purcell of Bloomfield and Timothy Joseph (Judy) Purcell of Bloomfield; daughter, Sheila Darlene (Virgil) Jones of Linton; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, a sister and one daughter, Rita Kaye Shelton.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Concord General Baptist Church in Calvertville on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, with Craig Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery in Solsberry.

Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, Linton Chapel.
