Rev. John Louis Ferguson

Rev. John Louis Ferguson, age 74, of Lyons, passed away peacefully at 8:25 A.M. on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.  He was born in Billings, Montana on June 9, 1947, the son of Donald & Marjorie (DeNayer) Ferguson.

John was a 1965 graduate of Fergus County High School, where he participated as a Cadet of the Civil Air Patrol.  He went to college for two years and then joined the United States Army to serve our country during the Vietnam War.  Following his service with the Army, he joined the Air Force reserve and retired after many years of service.  He finished his Bachelor Degree in History at Eastern Montana College.  John retired from N.S.W.C. Crane.  After education in ministry, John served as a minister, filling in for many local churches, and serving as pastor at Nine Mile Methodist Church.

John was a member of the F. & A.M. Linton Lodge #560, Linton Elks Lodge #866, VFW, and the Unchained Gang Prison Ministry.

He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, golfing with his father, history, and serving God.

John is survived by his wife who he married Sept. 9, 1967, Starline I. (Lundin) Ferguson of Lyons, his three sisters, Pamela (John) Baird of Lincoln City, Oregon, Dallas (Butch) Kucera of Billings, Montana, and Schelle (Bryan) Swan of Colstrip, Montana, a sister-in-law, Marcella (Dan) Ahlgren of Grass Range, Montana, a brother-in-law, Raymond Lundin of Forest Grove, Montana, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, with Pastor Rick Pressel officiating.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until the time of service.
