Phyllis J. Franklin, 69, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life into Heaven, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She was born on April 15, 1954 in Sullivan, Indiana to Warren and Norma Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Hawkins) Canada. Phyllis married her loving husband of 48 years, Dale Franklin on October 18, 1975.

Phyllis worked as a Children’s Librarian, working at Margaret Cooper Library and Linton Public Library with more than 35 years of service before retiring in 2014. She was very passionate about reading and promoting a love of reading to children. Phyllis was privileged to be a torch bearer for Greene County for the Indiana Bicentennial. She loved nature, vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains and especially spending time with her family. 

Family left to cherish the memories of Phyllis include: her husband, Dale Franklin; son, Wes (Halea) Franklin and daughter, Kimberly Franklin, both of Linton; grandchildren, Brooklyn Franklin, Wrigley Franklin, Kylie Blair, Brynley Franklin, Tyler Franklin and Keegan Blair; sister, Sharon Welch; brothers, Dale (Diane) Canada and Vence (Teresa) Canada. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pauline Crawl. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Linton with her nephew, Ryan Canada officiating. Phyllis will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton. 

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 16 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Friday, at the funeral home.
