Naomi Swartzentruber
Naomi Swartzentruber, 79, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven with family by her side, on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on July 29, 1943 in Montgomery, Indiana to Ben S. and Susie M. Wagler.
Naomi married her loving husband, Ben Swartzentruber, Jr. on July 22, 1962 and he survives.
Naomi was a member of the Odon Christian Church. She was employed as a secretary, at Odon Feed and Grain, that she and her husband have owned since 1978. Naomi was a giver and part of her ministry was cooking for her family at Sunday dinners. It was a time of bonding for all. She enjoyed giving and meeting the needs of those around her. Naomi was a prayer warrior for her children and grandchildren. She prayed incessantly that her family would love and accept the Jesus she served daily. She loved and cherished her visits with her great-grandchildren.
Ben and Naomi were blessed with three children who survive, Stephen Swartzentruber, Brenda Swartzentruber and Nelda (Bud) Woodruff, all of Odon. Other surviving loved ones include: grandchildren, Mitchel Swartzentruber of Odon, Cyla (Roy Dixon) Swartzentruber of Odon, Garrett (Paige) Byrer of Bloomfield, Clayton (Ali) Byrer of Odon, Ali Jo (Justin Knepp) Byrer of Elnora, Richard Scott Woodruff of Odon and Nicole (Bryce) Talbot of Odon; great-grandchildren, Kyrin, Kadyn, and Kinley Dixon, Averie, Cade, Marlee and Zoie Byrer. Surviving siblings include: Miriam (Elmer) Gerig of Fort Wayne, Uria (Marita) Wagler, Roman (Mary) Wagler and Barbara Miller, all of Montgomery and Betty (Greg) Flinn of Odon. Surviving in-laws include: Larry (Rosemary) Swartzentruber, of Odon, Geneva Graber and Darrell (Marjean) Swartzentruber of Montgomery, and Norma (Byron) Slaubaugh of Loogootee.
Naomi was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter-in-law, Carla Swartzentruber; sister, Orpha Lengacher; brother, Harvey Wagler, mother and father-in-law, Ben and Loveda Swartzentruber, brothers-in-law, Phillip Graber, Donnie Miller and Leroy Lengacher; nieces and nephews, Francis Graber, Angela Wagler, Sue Nisly, Michael Lengacher, Jeremy Swartzentruber and Mark Graber; in addition to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren lost to miscarriage.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Odon Christian Church with Tom Watson officiating. Naomi will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the church.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made Gideons International. Envelopes will be available at the church.
