Michael Joseph James

Michael Joseph James, age 78, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Father''s Day at 3:25 A.M. on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Glenburn Home. Joe was born in Springfield, MO on March 4, 1943, the son of John L. & Cleota Mae (Cooprider) James.

He was a 1961 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. He attended Indiana State University and served in the U.S. Air Force. The majority of his adult life he worked in insurance and car sales.

Joe enjoyed listening to Linton Miner Football on the radio, mushroom hunting, back road drives, the Covered Bridge Festival, and loved his pets.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Jerry) Skomp of Noblesville and Michelle (Doug) Roudebush of Linton, former spouse, Shirley Haskins of Linton, a brother, John (De) James of Linton, a sister, Mary (Jim) Baker of Linton, a step-brother, Mark (Lindsey) Hollingworth, sister-in-law, Joann James of Linton, grandchildren, Jack and Anna Skomp, Jarod and Devin Cooksey, great-grandchild, Cooper Cooksey, and special cousin, Terry (Veronica) Weaver of Linton, and a special friend, Lavonna Rose of Jasonville.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John (Katie) James and Cleota (Hershel) Hollingworth, two brothers, Steve "Gang" James and Morgan James,

Following Joe''s wishes, he will be cremated and no public service held. His daughter''s will honor his memory by having a private celebration on the 4th of July.

Arrangements are in care of Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
