Melba Stallons
Melba R. Stallons, age 82, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 6:05 am on Monday, June 29, 2020, at the Special Care Unit of Glenburn Home. She was born in St. Louis, MO on July 27, 1937, the daughter of Rev. Louis Lee Leininger & Ollie Frances (McNeil) Leininger.
She was a 1955 graduate of East St. Louis Sr. High School and a 1975 graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio with a Bachelor's Degree in English Education. She was an English teacher for many years at Eastern Greene Schools and loved reading, English Literature and singing. She was a member of Linton United Methodist Church and the Lin-Tones group.
Melba is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Noble Stallons of Linton; sons, Michael (Jan) Stallons of Charleston, IL and Mark (Judy) Stallons of Pahrump, NV; grandchildren, Leslie Stallons, Jonathan Stallons, Jason (Vicky) Stallons, Benjamin (Samohya) Stallons; great grandchildren, Camila Stallons, Lucia Stallons, Tsoli Stallons, Kaius Stallons, Mia Stallons and Leonardo Noble Stallons; siblings, Martha (Larry) Dimond, Ray (Mary) Leininger and Daniel (Donna) Leininger.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Frances Tipton and Louis Lee Leininger, Jr.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Linton United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 11, 2020, with Pastor Ben Biggs officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Saturday, July 11,2020 from 10:00 am-12:30 pm prior to funeral service at the church.
