Mary E. Hughes, 74, of Owensburg, passed away on December 4, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born September 30, 1945 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Nay and Glena Mirl (Sowders) Vincent.

On June 29, 1964 she married Ronald Dale Hughes and he passed away December 20, 1969.

She was employed at Carpenters in Mitchell for more than 25 years, when she retired and became a home health care provider.

Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Veronica (Tom) Settles and Tammy (Bryan) Woodall; two sons, Ronnie (Lisa) Hughes and Harold (Veida) Hughes; two brothers, Carl (Marsha) Vincent and Fonda (Becky) Vincent; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Dale Hughes, one daughter, Allicia Benton, four sisters, Mary Catherine Vincent, Dorothy Alton, Bessie Workman and Brenda Kidd, one brother, Ray Lee “Luke” Vincent, one grandson, Ronald “Booger” Hughes and her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Harold Godsey officiating. Interment will follow in Patton Hill cemetery in rural Lawrence County.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
