Marc A. Russell, Sr., age 78, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at his son's residence in Linton. He was born on April 13, 1946, the son of William "Bud" and Rosemary E. (Steurwald) Russell.

Marc was a 1964 graduate from Linton-Stockton High School, where he excelled in basketball. He served eight years in the Army National Guard and retired from the Air Guard in Terre Haute after twenty-one years of service. He worked many years as a coal miner in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky with Hawthorne and Peabody Coal Mines. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He enjoyed ballgames, reading, and his grandchildren.

He survived by his four children, Lisa Booher (Chad) of Linton, Marc Russell, Jr. (Mindy) of Brazil, Kelly Russell (Mike McBride) of Linton, and Scott Russell (Sara) of Linton; ten grandchildren, Jalyn Medley (Eric), Alec McKee (Kaylee), Mallory Russell, Maci Russell, Megan Russell, Mackenzie Clifford (Brad), Garrett McBride, Damian Russell (Kayla), Adrian Russell, and Evalyn Russell; six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Dean Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and on Monday from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 11:00 am, with Archie Ellett officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
