Mabel Padgett

Mabel L. Padgett, age 82, of Lyons, passed away peacefully to make her final journey home at 12:54 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Mabel was born in Lone Tree Community in Linton on January 1, 1936, the daughter of Lester and Violet (Pake) McDonald.  

She was a 1952 Graduate of Switz City Central School. On December 24, 1952, she married her husband Harold A. Padgett. They were married sixty-five years, working together on their farm and raised four children.

She was a member of Linton First Christian Church for many years.  She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, farmers wife, and "Granny" to many.

She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Karen (Doug) Lee, Alisa (Jay) McKee, and Monica (Brian) Sparks, all of Linton, a son, Harold "Alan" (Patricia) Padgett of Lyons, grandchildren, Jason (LeaAnne) Lee of Knoxville, TN, Jarod Lee of Linton, Jordan (Makenzie) Dunn of Linton, Bryant (Sara) Sparks of Greenwood, Benn (Baileigh) Sparks of Linton, Andrew Padgett of Lyons, and Karee Padgett, of Lyons, great-grandchildren, Emma Lee, Kalyn Lee, and Harper Jo Dunn, step-grandchildren, Kyle McKee, Jalyn McKee, Alec McKee, Stephen Sparks, Candi Payne, and Cody Swan, several step-great-grandchildren, her sisters, Anna Mae (Conrad) Passen, Maxine (Steve) Morse, Patty (Don) Jenkins, step-sisters, Debra Corbin and Vicki Henson, step-brothers, Terry Pletch and Larry Pletch, and two sisters-in-law, Susan McDonald and Ethel McDonald.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Delores Eikelman, two brothers, Lester "Tuffy" McDonald and Harold "Butch" McDonald, an infant brother, Franklin McDonald, and an infant sister, Mary Lorene McDonald.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, Trevor Gilbert officiating.  Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m., and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
