/Lowell Renzo Dowden, 95, of Switz City, died Saturday June 8, 2019. He was born on May 26, 1924 to William H. and Edna Dowden..
He was a graduate of Switz City High School. Lowell was a farmer for most of his life, after leaving the farm he worked at Crane Naval Base, he retired from Crane and spent his later years as a contractor, and built several homes and business buildings in Greene and the surrounding counties.
Lowell was preceded in death by the love of his live, his wife of 58 years, Ilene; his parents, and two sisters, Alberta Miller of Linton and Norma Coleman of Terre Haute.
Surviving are his three daughters, De Ann (David) Wright of Bloomington, Linda (John) Bard of Seffner, Florida; and Susan (William) Heath of Farmersburg, one sister, Judy (John) Shake of Linton. Lowell had five grandchildren, Jason (Lauree) Wright of Bloomington, Eric (Megan) Heath of Sullivan, Brook (Dale) Povlin of Farmersburg, John (Kim) Bard of Dade City, Florida; Michael (Brittany) Bard of Seffner, Florida. His great grandchildren, Dustin (Bridgette) Sherfield, Haley (Anthony) Terrell, Ariel and Asia Povlin, Ryker, Kensington, Jax and Blake Heath, Addison Bard, Brad, Jordan, Grant and Garrett Bard, his great great grandchildren, Austin and Luke Sherfield and Allison, Corbin, Carson and Cole Terrell.
Services will be at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with visitation from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be at Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
