Loren L. 'Jim' Phipps

Loren L. ‘Jim’ Phipps, 63, of Linton, Indiana, passed away surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born on December 3, 1957 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Loren L. ‘Buck’ and Mary Jane (Grove) Phipps.

Jim married the love of his life, Jerri I. (Stephens) Phipps on July 16, 1983.

Jim was a US Army veteran. He was mechanic for Thatcher Trucking with 28 years of service before retiring in 2016. Jim enjoyed fishing, working in his garage, reading, watching Westerns and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Family left to cherish the memory of Jim include: his wife, Jerri Phipps; three sons, Alex (Cristy) Phipps, Orry (Jessica) Phipps and Evan Phipps, all of Linton; three grandchildren, Charly, Arianna and Remington; one brother, Tony Phipps of Greencastle; two sisters, Janet (Robert) Rose of Linton and Cindy (Brad) Hettich of Bridgeport, IL. Jim is also survived by several nieces and nephews and several that called him dad.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Pam Sullivan.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Rev. Vernon Raines officiating. Jim will be laid to rest in Burris Chapel Cemetery in Linton following military graveside rites by the American Legion Post #22.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

In compliance with state regulations, social distancing and face masks are required by all attending. Additional regulations are allowing only fifty (50) individuals in the funeral home at one time.
