Lloyd Douglas “Doug” Corbin

Lloyd Douglas “Doug” Corbin, of Fontana, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at age 87. 

Loving father to Leta (Joe) Corbin Gardella, Jena (Chris) Jordan, David (Cristy) Corbin; grandfather to Kaylin, Kristyn, Paige & Jessica. Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife Karen Gastineau Corbin, siblings Wilbur, John and Mildred Corbin, and parents Wayne & Leta Corbin.

Doug was born in Switz City, Indiana on February 28, 1935 and raised in Linton, Indiana. He graduated high school from Linton-Stockton in 1952, then set off to Indiana University and eventually the US Army where he served at Fort Knox. Doug worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Van Nuys, California, Crane Naval Weapons Support Center near Bloomington, Indiana and retired from Hardesty Drilling Company in Linton, where he worked beside his good friend Dale Hardesty for many years.

Doug was known for his iconic cowboy hat, his kindness and gentlemanly manners and love of his dog Brody. He was proud of his hometown, and to be a 68 year member of the Linton BPO Elks #866.  He spent his retirement years pursuing his passion for woodworking and doting on his family and dogs.

Two memorial services will be held; the first at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 21st at Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, WI with a luncheon to follow at the Abbey Springs Yacht Club in Fontana, WI at 12:00 pm. The second at 11:00 am on Monday, January 23rd at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #22, with a luncheon to follow at the Elks Lodge in Linton at 12:00 pm. Services in Linton arranged by Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Indiana.
