Linda Alice (Johnson) Gentry
Linda A. (Johnson) Gentry, 72, of Freedom, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 6, 2020 at her residence. Linda was born in Bloomfield, Indiana on December 9, 1947 to Clifford Dale Johnson and Martha Alice (Hunter) Johnson.
Linda graduated from Worthington Jefferson High School and loved being a beautician for many years. Linda never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her. She was a long time member of the Owen County Fair Board, she was the coordinator of the Owen County Fair Queen Contest, was on the 4H Council, belonged to the Jolly Homemakers of Owen County, was a 50 year 4H leader, belonged to the Worthington-Jefferson Alumni Association, was the Franklin Township Trustee Assistant, belonged to the Clydesdale Breeder Association of America and was on the Freedom Community Center Board of Directors.
Linda is survived by her husband, Leroy Owen Gentry, whom she married on January 22, 1966, children, Stacey Allen Gentry of Terre Haute, Tracy (Marty) Jackson of Freedom, Mike Shipley of Huntington, grandchildren, Kyle (Victoria) Jackson, Kolton Jackson, Austin Shipley, Tanner Shipley, great-granddaughter, Haisley Richelle Jackson, siblings, Ray Curtis (Maggie) Johnson, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Jodi Rincon, Jimmy Dale Johnson and Alice Marie Johnson.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 20, 2020 will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the Owen County Fairgrounds 4H Building.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2020, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer. Additional viewing on Saturday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Defore Cemetery, in Freedom.
Due to State Mandate, mask and or face shields are required to enter both the viewing and the funeral. Funeral Home and 4H Staff will allow only fifty(50) people in each building at one time. (At capacity, when someone leaves, someone else may enter)
Memorial contributions may be made to any of following, Owen County Fair Association, Freedom Community Center or the Owen County Community Foundation or the Freedom High School Fund, through the funeral home.
