LaVelta M. Crody, 91, of Worthington, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the McCormicks Creek Nursing Home in Spencer. LaVelta was born in Dugger, Indiana on October 8, 1930 to William E. Kirby and Eva M (Rutledge) Kirby. LaVelta was raised by her grandparents, Enoch L Rutledge and Rosetta M. Rutledge.

She attended all three schools in Linton, Indiana. She married George C. Crody on February 11, 1950 and was together for 55 years, and 3 months, when he passed away. LaVelta belonged to the Arney Home Extension Club for over 30 years and the First Baptist Church in Worthington for almost all of her life. She was the Jefferson Township Secretary for over 20 years. LaVelta loved the Lord and is at peace.

LaVelta is survived by caretakers, Nancy Dyar, Rick Baker, half sister, Earlean Johnson, half brothers, Bill Kirby, Tom Kirby, and several cousins.

LaVelta was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband and daughter, Candace Freeman.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Worthington Cemetery.
