Larry Joseph Blackmore

Larry Joseph Blackmore, 78, of Newberry passed away Tuesday February 25, 2020 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Born December 28, 1941 in Bloomington, Indiana the son of Phillip J. and Mary Lou (Robinson) Blackmore.

Larry retired from Indiana University Golf Course after 44 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Solsberry American Legion Post 450, SAL and ARL Bloomfield Post 196, life member of the Crane VFW, NRA, life member and founding member of the Richland Taylor Volunteer Fire Department, AmVets Post 2000 in Bloomington and the Indiana DAV. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Surviving relatives include his children, Jim (April) Blackmore, Sarah (Jeff) Astafan, John (Toni) Blackmore, his grandchildren, Jacob (Alisha) Blackmore, Danielle (Tanner) Vaught, Scotland McKinzie, Dawson Blackmore, Garrett Riley and Josie Astafan his great-grandchildren, RyAnn Blackmore, Jeremy Blackmore, Meyleah Blackmore, Bethany Vaught, one brother Gary Blackmore, two sisters, Reva N. Gallion, Donna Chaney and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Shirley A. Blackmore and his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday and noon Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery.

The family wishes any memorial donations be made to the Scotland Cemetery in Larry’s name.
