Joseph Elmer Jacob

Joseph Elmer Jacob was born September 24, 1934 in Arcola, Illinois. He died July 21, 2020 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was the son of Alfred Joseph Jacob and Julia Marie (Clapp) Jacob.

Joe was a farmer all of his life. He belonged to Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church in Owensburg. He graduated from Arcola High School in 1954. He was on the Owensburg Fire Department for several years.

He married Joann Burch on August 27, 1955 in Arcola, Illinois. They were parents of seven sons; Andrew Joseph (deceased); Stanley Wayne Jacob, David Lee Jacob, Richard Dale Jacob, Jack Matthew Jacob, Steven Alfred Jacob and Thomas Elmer Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Jacob and a sister Alberta Jacob and an infant brother, Andrew Ralph Jacob, one son, Andrew Joseph Jacob who died July 23, 2012.

Survivors include: his wife Joann; sons, Stanley, David, Richard, Jack, Steven and Thomas; grandchildren, Frank Adams, Julie Jacob, Kaci Jacob, Sam Jacob (Danielle) Anndrea Jacob (Ivan), Samantha Cummings (Jeff), Cami Jacob (Dylan), Jered Jacob (Lindsey), Kayla Fields, Savannah Jacob and Isaac Jacob; great grandchildren, Jessah Stone (Jordan), Loghan Sowders, Kanyan Rowland, Jedd Cummings, Cylaine Cummings, Clayton Cummings, Wyla Mae Suthard, Aria Jacob and Nora Jacob; his great, great grandchildren, Ivan Haywood, Solace Jordan, and a step great, great grandson, Jackson Stone.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church, 6605 E. State Road 45 Bloomfield, IN 47424, with Rev. Justin Berger officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Masks (Face Coverings) and social distancing will be required for entry into the church for the visitation and funeral service.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church.
