Joretta Ann Dixon

Joretta Ann Dixon, 93, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life, with loving family at her side, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton. She was born on February 21, 1931 in Linton to Robert, Sr. and Mary (Burnett) Padgett. Joretta married the love of her life, Robert E. ‘Bob’ Dixon, on March 11, 1946.

Joretta worked at General Electric, Linton Plant, retiring in 1988 with 34 years of service. She loved cross-stitching, watching IU Basketball and her Chicago Cubbies, finally attending a Cubs game in her late 80’s, traveling, especially overseas to France, England and Scotland. Joretta most of all, loved spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren in sporting events and spoiling her dog, Miss Dolly.

Family left to cherish the memories of Joretta include: daughter, Sharleen K. Brookshire of Linton; grandson, Jeffrey Brookshire of Loogootee; granddaughter, Jennifer (Ray) Murdock of Sandborn; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Emily and Lilly; eight great-great-grandchildren, Danielle, Carson, Alexander, Cooper, Xavier, Elijah, Rhett and Baby Gillick.

Joretta was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Bob Dixon; son, Ricky Lee Dixon; sisters, Linda Lou Padgett and Lola Lubker.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Anderson-Poindexter in Linton with Pastor Jeff Fulk officiating. Joretta will be laid to rest in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Dugger.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society, 1026 N 1275 W, Linton, IN 47441. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. 

The family would like to thank Glenburn Nursing Home and Viaquest Hospice for all of the love and care they gave to Joretta. They were a blessing to Joretta and the family.
