John R. Linton, age 90, of West Frankfort, IL, passed away peacefully at 2:40 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Bloomfield, IN on October 11, 1931, the son of James “Pat” & Eileen (Buckner) Linton.

He was a graduate of Midland High School. He worked as a maintenance manager at Freeman United Coal Mine. He was a member of Shriners International for 70 years and was also a member of Scottish Rite. He enjoyed gardening and bird watching.

He is survived by his children, Jacquelyn Maurer, Dawn Magda, Heather Crafton and John David Linton; grandchildren, Angie Patterson, Dana Flint, Thomas Joseph Maurer, Jennifer Magda, Justin Yates, Kelli Magda, Hailey Crafton, Savannah Crafton and Trey Crafton as well as two sisters, Patty Orman and Rita Lammey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Linton and son, Mark Linton.

Private services will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 with Gregg Orman officiating. Burial will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland.
