John McKinney

John Lee McKinney, 78, of Solsberry, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at his home. He was born in Columbus, Indiana on September 22, 1941 to John T. and Esther (Cooper) McKinney.

John retired after forty years with the Monroe County Highway Department as the Head Mechanic. He loved woodworking, if you handed him a piece of wood he could make anything out of it. John was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be missed. 

John is survived by his sons, Robert (Kelly) Crowe, of Post Falls, Idaho, Richard (Sherry) Crowe of Bloomington, Rod (Julia) Crowe of Celina, Tennessee and Rusty Crowe of Solsberry; daughters, Robin (Jim) Leroux of Solsberry, Regina ( Kevin) New of Bloomington, Terri Lynn (Ron) McKinney of Spencer and Pam Jo Dowdy of Spencer;  companion, Rachel Kruidenier of Solsberry; brother, Larry Dale McKinney of Kentucky; sister, Maddie Miller of Florida; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis McKinney and a brother Bobby McKinney.

Private graveside services will be observed by the family at Newark Cemetery in Solsberry. Pastor Raymond New will officiate.
