John L. Collisson, age 72, of Linton, passed away peacefully, at his residence, with his family at his side, at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. He was born in Linton on November 20, 1950, the son of Dr. William H. & Janet I. (Hamersly) Collisson.

John was a 1969 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. He graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in surveying. He worked as a supervising engineer for the Monroe County Highway Department, and later was a well known manager of the Linton Cinema III for many years.

He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, sport shooting, collecting, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen S. (Hagaman) Collisson; a daughter, Samantha Erin Van Scoik of Elkhart; a son, Patrick Ian (Tia) Collisson of Washington; four grandchildren, Gavin and Isabel Van Scoik and Torrance and T.J. Collisson; a sister, Kay Lynn Bennett of Carmel; and a brother, William Craig (Sue) Collisson of Santa Barbara, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 2:00 P.M. until a time of Celebration at 3:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society, through the funeral home.
