John "Johnny" Johnson
John “Johnny” Johnson, 87, of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday November 13, 2019 at Washington Nursing Center. Born June 10, 1932 in Linton, Indiana the son of Orda Wayne and Sophia Esther (Grove) Johnson.
Johnny was the owner and operator of the Standard station on the square in Bloomfield, a member of the Bloomfield and Richland Taylor Fire departments, where he helped start and served as Chief, he was a life member of the Indiana Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, life member of the Jaycees (Senator). Johnny was a rural route carrier for the Bloomfield post office for years, he started racing at an early age and raced at several dirt tracts until the age of 81, he was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include his wife Wanda (New) Johnson of Bloomfield, his six children, Randy (Rita) Johnson of Greenfield, Dick (Wanda) Johnson of Indianapolis, Bob “O.J.” (Sharon) Johnson, Janet (Harold) Hargrave, June (Mike) Cahill, Jonas (Cheryl) Johnson all of Bloomfield, he has seventeen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Johnny was preceded in death by a grandson, two great-grandchildren, one brother George Michael Johnson and his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday and 11 A.M. Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Jim Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
